Why am I not receiving my email anymore *@!&^%$#"!!!!???
The most common cause of this question is that your email account mailbox on the server is full. (email account has reached it's quota)
First things first.
If you are using Outlook, Outlook Express, or similar local email software:
- Check any website in your browser. If you cannot get anything, reboot your computer. If your system has become unstable, you may not be connecting to the internet properly.
If you still cannot get any web page,
your ISP or internet connection may be at fault.
If you are connecting OK, and all looks well with your computer:
- Send an email to yourself, wait a minute, then hit send/receive to check if it has come back to you. If it comes back normally, then it's not your problem, everything is working correctly.
- If nothing comes back, wait longer, there may be temporary congestion somwhere out there.
-
If a message "undeliverable - return to sender" comes back, read the details, the message will usually tell you why.
Next - check your server email account mailbox quota:
- • Log in to your hosting account control panel with your hosting account username and password. This was given to you when your hosting account was originally set up.
• You can log in from the "Client Login" facility in the right hand column on this page. »»»»
• When successfully logged in to cPanel - Go to Email > Manage accounts.
• At the bottom of the email accounts list, click the link "show disk space used"
• Your available quota and used quota will display to the right of your email address.
- If your quota is not full and the above steps have been taken - contact us
- If your quota is full then read on to see how to fix this.
If your mail box quota is full and you have "Spam Assassin" enabled:
Spam Assassin (provided free with web hosting) should only be used if you frequently check your email via our server based webmail.
If you do not use our webmail regularly, you should not use Spam Assassin .
Spam Assassin checks for email that might be spam, and diverts that email into a spam folder. This spam folder can only be viewed via our server webmail. (either Horde or Squirrel Mail)
Spam Filters are far from perfect, the spam folder must regularly be checked for valid emails and emptied.
- To check your spam folder, enter Web Mail, via the "Client Login" facility in the right hand column on this page. »»»»
or go to www.yourdomain.com.au/webmail (substitute your domain.com.au with your own domain name)
** To Enter our client login facility:
Domain Name: www.yourdomain.com.au
Username: your full email address
Password: your email password. (be sure to select the webmail drop down)
- Choose your preferred webmail software, Horde or Squirrel Mail
- When in webmail, go to the "spam" folder near your inbox in the left hand column, to check your spam for valid emails
- Move valid emails to the "inbox" and delete the rest. (be sure to "Purge Deleted").
If you have a lot of spam in your spam folder, and you have access to the main control panel, it may be quicker to delete the email address and then add it back again. Be sure you know your password first.
- If not using webmail regularly, you must disable "Spam Assassin"
(Go to cPanel > Email > Spam Assassin > disable Spam Assassin).
- Take the tme to setup "Box Trapper" if available, a much more effective way of controlling spam
If your mailbox is full and you do not have Spam Assassin enabled:
- If you are regularly using Outlook, Outlook Express or similar local email software, you may have "leave a copy on the server" enabled in the advanced settings of the email account in your email software.
- If only using web based email, you must increase your quota via your hosting cPanel, or delete or download some email from the server.
